NT2 state exam dates 2026-2027: registration, results and diploma

Updated on 18 October 2026. Sources: the official exam schedule on staatsexamensnt2.nl and the DUO pages on registration, exam fees and results and diploma (in Dutch). The schedule can change, so check it there before you register.

The College voor Toetsen en Examens (CvTE) has published the schedule up to and including January 2027. For Programme II (B2) there are seven exam sessions left until then: Writing twice, Reading twice, Speaking twice and Listening once. If you register now for all four parts of Programme II, you will have all your results on 26 January 2027 at the earliest.

In short

  • You register with DUO, in Mijn DUO with your DigiD. Without a DigiD you can register with a form.
  • Each part costs € 50, all four together € 200. This applies to Programme I and Programme II.
  • Registration opens about 8 weeks before the exam and closes 3 weeks before it. A session can be full earlier.
  • You take the exam in Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rijswijk, Rotterdam, Utrecht or Zwolle.
  • Results come 3 to 9 weeks after the exam: in Mijn DUO, by email and by post.
  • You can cancel up to 4 weeks before the exam and get your money back.

Programme II (B2): all dates up to January 2027

For each exam: the date, the registration deadline and the day the result is online (from 15:00, Dutch time). The Dutch names of the parts are Schrijven (Writing), Lezen (Reading), Luisteren (Listening) and Spreken (Speaking).

  • Tuesday 10 November 2026, Writing II: register by 20 October, result 22 December
  • Tuesday 24 November 2026, Reading II: register by 3 November, result 15 December
  • Wednesday 25 November 2026, Speaking II: register by 4 November, result 22 December
  • Monday 14 December 2026, Writing II: register by 23 November, result 16 February 2027
  • Wednesday 6 January 2027, Listening II: register from 2 November to 16 December, result 26 January
  • Friday 15 January 2027, Speaking II: register from 9 November to 25 December, result 9 February
  • Tuesday 19 January 2027, Reading II: register from 16 November to 29 December, result 9 February

Two things stand out. Listening II is on the schedule only once in this period. And the Writing II exam of 14 December takes long to mark: the result only comes on 16 February.

Programme I (B1): all dates up to January 2027

Programme I has many more sessions. Below are the exam dates per part, with the results date in brackets. Registration always closes 3 weeks before the exam.

  • Writing I: 20 November (result 22 December), 8 December (26 January), 15 December (26 January), 22 January 2027 (23 February)
  • Reading I: 13 November (1 December), 1 December (22 December), 9 December (12 January), 5 January 2027 (26 January), 12 January (2 February), 26 January (16 February), 27 January (16 February)
  • Listening I: 10 November (1 December), 11 November (1 December), 27 November (15 December), 2 December (22 December), 11 December (12 January), 22 December (12 January), 23 December (12 January), 29 December (19 January), 15 January 2027 (2 February)
  • Speaking I: 18 November (15 December), 27 November (22 December), 2 December (12 January), 4 December (12 January), 11 December (26 January), 22 December (26 January), 23 December (26 January), 6 January 2027 (2 February), 13 January (9 February), 20 January (16 February), 29 January (23 February)

How long from registration to diploma?

Count with three steps:

  1. Registration: at the latest 3 weeks before the exam. Don't wait until the last day. The CvTE itself says it is busy and that sessions can be full earlier. The DUO website shows which places are still free.
  2. Result: 3 to 9 weeks after the exam. In this schedule, Writing takes the longest to mark.
  3. Diploma: once you have passed all four parts, DUO sends the diploma by registered post within 4 weeks. In Mijn diploma's at DUO you can also download a free digital extract. According to DUO, it has the same value.

Example for Programme II. Say you register on 19 October 2026 for all four parts and always choose the first session: Writing II on 10 November, Reading II on 24 November, Speaking II on 25 November and Listening II on 6 January. Your last result then comes on 26 January 2027. Do you have a hard deadline from a university or employer? Then count back from that date.

Failed a part?

You only retake the parts you failed. You register the same way as the first time.

Important for your planning: you cannot register for a part while you are still waiting for its result. An example with Writing II: if you take it on 10 November, you get the result on 22 December. By then the Writing II exam of 14 December has already taken place. So a retake comes at the earliest at a session that is not on the schedule yet.

How do you prepare?

Start with the free official practice exams in the NT2 practice environment. Do them on a computer, like the real exam. That shows you per part how far you are, and which date is realistic. How to plan the step to B2 part by part is explained in From B1 to B2 in Dutch: how long does it really take?
